The Cartoonist Insect: Strigiphilus Garylarsoni

Strigiphilus Garylarsoni

The Strigiphilus Garylarsoni is a biting louse that is only found on owls. It was discovered by biologist Dale H. Clayton in 1989, who named it after cartoonist Gary Larson (The Far Side). Clayton had contacted Larson asking to name it after him due to “the enormous contribution that my colleagues and I feel yu have made to biology through your cartoons”.
